Crock-Pot Hot Buttered Rum
This is a classic holiday adult beverage served in thousands of homes across the world. And this is one that I remember relatives serving at holiday get together’s but the kids were never allowed to drink. Back then, I did not understand why and I was only told that “when you get older you will understand”.
Now that I am older, I do understand.
It is a very easy beverage to prepare. Add the ingredients to a slow cooker and put the lid on. Allow the slow cooker to do all the cooking on LOW. The beverage will be ready once all the butter has melted.
It is important to wait to add the Spiced Rum until the end. If you add it in the beginning, the alcohol portion will cook out. And well, that is the whole point of drinking this beverage! Stir in the Spiced Rum once the beverage is ready to drink.
I like to serve with a ladle into tall ceramic or glass mugs topped with a little whipped cream.
