Crock-Pot Apple Dump Cake
I love dump cakes due to their ease to make. You “dump” and let the slow cooker do the rest. This recipe is for a simple Apple Dump Cake. Add the pie filling, the dry cake mix, and melted butter and put the lid on the slow cooker.
Once the cooker is done, the edges of the top will be golden brown and the center will be cooked. Spoon out the cooked cake into bowls. Serve with a side of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
I used canned pie filling for the Crock-Pot Apple Dump Cake recipe. But you can substitute a home made version for this recipe:
- 5 cups chopped apples, peeled, cored and sliced
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Add the apples to the bottom of the slow cooker and sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon over the top. Then add the dry cake mix and butter.
You can also use this home made version as a freezer type food. Prepare the apples and place in a gallon freezer bag. Add in the brown sugar and cinnamon and seal the bag. Label the outside with “apple pie filling” and freeze flat. These are great to dump in a prepared pie crust for a quick apple pie.
Crock-Pot Apple Dump Cake
Ingredients
- 21oz Canned Apple Pie Filling
- 1 15.2oz Boxed Yellow Cake Mix
- 1 Cup Unsalted Butter melted
Instructions
- Add the pie filling to the bottom of a 5 qt or larger crock-pot.
- Dump the dry cake mix evenly over the pie filling.
- Slowly pour the melted butter over the dry cake mix as evenly as possible.
- Cover and Cook on HIGH for 2.5 hours or until the middle is sticky but cooked.
- Spoon the cooked dump cake into bowls and serve with a side of ice cream or whipped cream.
